Chris Massaro is in his 16th year at Middle Tennessee looking to build upon the unparalleled success the athletic department has realized since he was named Director of Athletics in 2005.

During Massaro’s tenure, Middle Tennessee has realized its greatest athletic and academic successes as evidenced by the record-setting performances by all 17 sports.

Proving to be a true visionary, Massaro has helped revolutionize the Blue Raiders’ athletic department while helping pave the way for even greater success in future years. With Massaro’s leadership, that vision took a historical step on when the University accepted an invitation to join Conference USA.

Throughout the recent history of Middle Tennessee track & field, there have been two constants – veteran coach Dean Hayes and a legacy of championship performances. A renowned track & field coach both in college and professional circles, Hayes has gained great respect since coming to Middle Tennessee 56 years ago.

Overall, Hayes has guided the programs to 29 OVC titles, 18 Sun Belt championships, and 20 NCAA Top 25 finishes. 52 of his student-athletes have earned a total of 124 All-America honors, four have become national champions and a number of them have gone on to compete internationally in the Olympic Games, World University Games and Pan-American Games.

Hayes has added three Conference USA Coach of the Year accolades and 15 Sun Belt Coach of the Year awards to complement his 15 OVC Coach of the Year honors. He was inducted into the Blue Raider Hall of Fame in 1982 and the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in 1994. In addition, Hayes became a member of the Illinois Sports Hall of Fame in 1993, and he was inducted into the Mason-Dixon Athletic Club Hall of Fame in March 2005.

From www.ameliascloset.com: “The idea for Amelia’s Closet began developing years ago. As formerly incarcerated women would visit Jody’s church, she often wished they had a clothing closet to assist them in making a fresh start. Since she resigned from her full-time job, God has continually confirmed that she was supposed to help fill this need. Jody researched names for “hope” and found “ Amelia” means hope, and industrious, striving, and admiring – the type of women we desire to help (and happens to be her first granddaughter’s name).

Amelia’s Closet prepares women for meaningful, sustainable employment in order to make a difference in their families’ lives and reduce the risk of poverty in our communities.”

Ozzy Nelson of Murfreesboro’s Mayday Brewery is, well, a one-of-a-kind.

Today’s meeting was a hoot! Ozzy shared his philosophy on life: “We MUST balance life. We MUST make life easier. We MUST make the most of time spent with our children.”

Ozzy Nelson founded Mayday Brewery in 2012 believes Murfreesboro matters because of the people, who he sees as his friends and family.

Mayday Brewery is synonymous with fun. The atmosphere is ‘groovy’, the patrons are full of laughter and the beer, oh the beer, is wonderful!

Mayday Brewery is located at 521 Old Salem Road, next door to The Experience Church. Also, give them a like on Facebook/Instagram and visit www.maydaybrewery.com
